The port of Naples and tourism:
an extremely powerful combination when it is considered that the tourist area of the port overlooks the centre of a city which may be unique in the world in terms of its history, artistic heritage, architectural and natural beauty, which have made the port of Naples the undisputed leader in the itineraries of the main cruise operators.
There are connections from the port with a wide range of different worlds, from the splendid islands, the coasts, the archaeological sites of the region, to the tourist destinations of the Mediterranean Sea appreciated by those who search the sun the whole year long.
Most ships berth at Stazione Marittima, which is centrally located just below Castel Nuovo. Galleria del Mare or Stazione Marittima is the distinctive port building from 1930’s that was extensively refurbished and reopened in 2012 and its functioning as the terminal building. Contains several shops, bars and restaurants. The currency is euro, there are plenty of ATM machines and exchange bureau. Plenty of taxis line up at the port, but make sure you negotiate the price before getting in. Like many other big city’s Naples had a bad reputation for pickpockets and mugger , so stick in the main streets and pay more attention.
The main attractions in the city of Naples are Castel Nuovo ,Piazza Plebiscito with Palazzo Reale, the church of Santa Chiara, San Lorenzo Maggiore, Castel dell’Ovo, Capodimonte museum and park and Teatro San Carlo.
Outside the city are several famous destinations that you can’t miss.
